Homology-Directed Repair: How the Cell Edits DNA After a CRISPR-Induced Break
Переглядів 11 тис.10 місяців тому
Sometimes DNA breaks because of insults like x-rays, UV rays, or genetic scissors (e.g., CRISPR-Cas9). DNA breakage can have serious consequences if not corrected. Luckily, the cell has mechanisms to repair those breaks, including one known as homology-directed repair. In this fun animated clip, scientists describe how homology-directed repair works in an accessible way. You’re left with a haik...

Whoever is whining about "intelligent design" should know that we are NOT a design and the universe is finely tuned is an assumption. No, the designer is a stupid designer. Moreover, if cells are too complex to be random, what makes the creator uncreatable? We still do not know exactly how the first cell came into creation, and scientists are still doing research in that topic. "I don't know" is better than "there *must* be a creator" or any other god of the gap's argument. ask any scientist about the first cell. he most likely will reply "I don't know" and ask yourself? You claim you know that this was created by someone in the heavens. which obvious you have no evidence of.

I actually agree with you. because even though through science we have all this information, we still are uncertain of our knowledge. but yeah, it's still far promising than concept of god though, so only someone dumbest of the dumb evolutionist will belief that everything was created by some magic man who apparently is eternal ( cells can't be a random chance but yeah , creator can exist without a creator of the creator , the hypocrisy). because evolution is the best we have now. so i as an atheist wont claim that evolution is 100% the answer unlike you ignorant fools. dont worry, if you do prove the existence of god, the science community, or atleast me, will convert to any religion as you please.

@@GuardianSoulkeeper The best explanation to gaps in our understanding is "We don't know" and creationists don't seem to digest that. Why would complexity be a sign of a godly sign? The creatures we see exhibit BAD DESIGN. (Which supports evolution btw) It's simply that our minds are anthropic. just because we humans think it's complex, doesn't make it a universal truth.

I rescued some frog eggs from the pool and somehow that led me here lol. Has been fascinating watching them develop and grow! Initially I found tadpoles already several weeks old when we went to open the pool (late) for summer. They were living into the rainwater that had collected on the tarp. So I saved those and let them grow into lil froglets. Just as they were almost done, I realized when it rained the frogs didn't much care that the pool was now open/had chlorine in it. They were still going there and laying eggs! So today I managed to get the eggs out and have been watching them develop all day with help of my camera zoomed super far in. It's wild how fast they developed, in less than 24hr there are many that look like tiny tadpoles and are starting to twitch around. So I came here to learn about the different stuff I was seeing and understand what's going on. I just find it fascinating to watch!

I’d much rather listen to stories about crazy fascinating cell behaviors over crazy human politics. I had human histology the semester before last. I kind of wish my uni books mentioned galvanotaxis as a mechanism underlining the phenomenon of epithelial closing. That wasn’t even a listed feature of epithelial tissues.
